Ver e Tral

This short documentary examines the tradition of the pre-wedding serenade (serenata) in San Costantino Albanese, Italy—tracing its historical significance and exploring how it is performed and celebrated in contemporary village life. Filmed during the International Summer School of Audio-Visual Ethnography as part of a practical learning project, the work captures the symbolic role of wine and taralli—reflected in its title Ver e Taral (“Wine and Taralli” in Arbëreshë)—as central elements of the celebration. Through music, conviviality, and shared ritual, the film portrays the rich Arbëreshë musical heritage alongside the vibrant social fabric and warmth of the community.
