Transforming the Archive: A Slice of Life

This short documentary film is inspired by Transforming the Archive: A Slice of Life, a collaborative project examining the ethnographic film holdings of the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art and working with the community of Napamogona in the Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea to reframe archival material and community narratives into contemporary audiovisual forms.

I created an audiovisual and photographic reportage of this project, documenting the creative process with community members as they engaged with archival material and co-developed cinematic storytelling rooted in their own experiences. During the final phase of the project, I conducted interviews and produced a photo reportage that captures both the collaborative research and lived perspectives of the participants.

For privacy reasons and in respect of the subjects and community involved, the finished film is accessible only by password request. This restriction is necessary because the film will be presented as part of a museum installation featuring sensitive cultural material.
